But as decide what benefit a Virtual Assistant can have on your business, I've listed out my top 4 benefits to help! If any of these resonate with me, shoot me an email and let's chat!
1) Task Delegation & Time Freedom
I challenge you to pause for a moment and answer this question:
What else could you be doing with your time if someone else handled xyz for you?
As a business owner, your time is usually more valuable than routine administrative tasks. You can be freed up to work on strategic goals, or actually doing the work that you love. Isn't that why you started your business? You didn't open your doors to spend time making invoices & tracking down payments or deciding what is the best CRM to use. I doubt any of that really gets you super excited. How much of your time is actually spent IN the business vs ON the business? I argue IN the business time for an owner should be the actual service you are providing. Everything else can usually be outsourced.
Ask yourself: does this work need to be done by me at my desk? If no, outsource it, delete gate! You will have time freedom to focus on revenue generating tasks or the work you actually love.
2) Workflow Efficiency
When things work smoothly, you save time. When things are efficient, you save time. Having dedicated processes & workflows are crucial to scaling, achieving work life balance and feeling less cluttered & in fight or flight mode all the time. Being a business owner can sometimes feel like everything is scattered and you aren’t sure where to step next. There’s not enough hours in the day sometimes. Your to-do lists are scattered and 5 of them are crammed into one sticky note. I get it! So looking to reclaim structure and efficient in your business makes everything run smoother, even your brain!
When things are controlled with checklists or steps, a VA is actually usually more efficient than the owner at that task. So if a task to onboard a new client took the owner, lets say 30 minutes each time, well now that VA who is doing it and focusing on that repetitively and because they are doing similar tasks every day, might get it down to 12 minutes. So it saves you time and your business is actually more productive. That VA actually just saved the business owner 18 minutes and compound that on every task, the controlled workflows make it worth it!
3) Cost Savings & Low Overhead
If managing or maintaining a whole employee feels overwhelming or you don’t have 40 hours a week of work, even 20 hours a week of work - you get into this moment of growth or failure. Have you said to yourself "I can’t hire someone because I don’t have enough work but I really need help." VAs are a less expensive route to assistance. They won’t cost as much as a full time employee so business have less overhead when they go this route. You don't need an HR department, you don't need to figure out payroll, you don't have to figure out how to fill their day. Instead you can intentional about their tasks and just send a 1099 at the end of the year! 78% of companies using a VA reported, in 2024, that they had operational cost savings. 4) Having an ally in your corner
Now finances and checklists and ROI are really important - but out of these listed, what I feel is the most beneficial part of a VA is the partnership. I was a soloprenuer too, l started out as one before I grew my team in my business, but I know it can be lonely. There isn’t someone in the next cubicle to ask a question to or in the lunchroom to brainstorm an idea. And frankly not everyone’s family or friends understands what it feels like to be an entrepreneur or what you need. I set up my business to be that ally - someone you can tap in when you need to vent about a client or brainstorm how to execute your next goal or just have in your corner to say “hey, this isn’t working - how can I make this better - this is a priority to solve so I can function better. How do you think we should solve this?” It’s that teammate relationship that I look for when I accept new clients. Yes, there is the level of the client is instructing the assistant on what to do. But when it’s collaborative and you know that the person has your back and wants you to succeed too - it feels really good.
And frankly, when a business succeeds, the VA succeeds. Because when you grow, you still need us. So we want you to be profitable too! And that feels good to have that ally in your corner.
